Thirsting for Relief: Cotton Mouth
The expression "cotton mouth" aptly describes the sensation of having an extremely dry mouth, as if filled with cotton. Have you ever had literal cotton in your mouth? Personally, I haven't, and I don't plan on experiencing it anytime soon. Still, it makes me wonder who first made the analogy between a dry mouth and the feeling of having cotton in their mouth.
I can only imagine the discomfort of having my mouth stuffed with cotton, much like the parched sensation I feel when my mouth becomes incredibly dry, yearning for water or something to quench my throat.
But here's the thing: we shouldn't wait for the spiritual equivalent of cotton mouth to enter our lives. Instead, we must nourish ourselves daily with the presence of God. He alone has the power to satisfy us like nothing and no one else can. With God, we will never experience the agony of "cotton mouth."
You watch… You wait… You’ll see!
