All Eyes Upon God During Monday Night Football
On Monday evening of this last week, the Cincinnati Bengals NFL football team was competing against the Buffalo Bills. During the first quarter of the game, Bills player Damar Hamlin ended up fighting for his life as he fell to the field. Receiving medical help from team doctors, the remaining players on both sides of the field took a knee in prayer. Sportscasters, fellow players, ex-players, and almost everyone being interviewed were encouraging others to pray to God.
Our prayers are most certainly with Damar Hamlin, to which we are believing God for a complete recovery. As I watched, not only was I impacted by the actual events taking place on live television, but I was greatly impacted in the fact that most everyone, amid this tragedy, seemed to be concentrated on prayer to God. I have no idea to whom everyone was praying to, but the fact is, knees of athletes were bowed and people were encouraged to pray to God.
The Bible tells us that when Jesus is lifted up, all men will be drawn unto Him. I am believing that the eyes of our nation, as they have lifted their hearts in prayer, will experience the reality of who Jehovah God truly is! I am praying that what the devil has meant for bad to destroy a person’s life, God will turn this into good, in some way, and that HE will be glorified!
Yes, let’s pray for Damar Hamlin, but let us realize to whom we are praying to - God Almighty! The One who was and is and is to come! May we not only encourage others to pray to God, but let us show them by our example to whom THE GOD truly is!
And as we do…
You watch… You wait… You’ll see!
