Armor Bearer

Today’s Bible Reading:

Ephesians 6:13 - “So put on all of God’s armor. Evil days will come. But you will be able to stand up to anything. And after you have done everything you can, you will still be standing.”

Deuteronomy 20:1,4 - “When you go to war against your enemies, you might see that they have horses and chariots. They might even have an army that is stronger than yours. But don’t be afraid of them. The Lord your God will be with you. After all, He brought you up out of Egypt... The Lord your God is going with you. He’ll fight for you. He’ll help you win the battle over your enemies.”

Today’s Helpful Thought: Armor Bearer. It is kind of a weird word, isn’t it? In Bible times, the soldiers would wear heavy armor to protect themselves. An armor bearer was someone who would carry it for them and help them when they needed it, even if it was really hard. In today’s times, we don’t need someone to carry armor for us, but we do need really good friends who can be there to help us in the hard times. We need someone who will hang out with us, make us feel better when we are sad, pray for us, laugh with us when we are happy, cry with us when we are sad, stand up for us in a fight, and be our friends no matter what. The friends who stick with us in all of that are like our Armor Bearers. And just like we need those people in our life, we also need to be that kind of friend for others. We can be armor bearers, too!

Today’s Prayer: Dear Lord, I want You to be in charge of my whole life! Will You please show me who You want me to be an armor bearer for? Will You show me who I need to stick beside and be a friend to no matter what happens? And God, will You also please show me how I can be that kind of friend? Please help me to know what to do that will help my friend no matter what they are going through. With Your help, I want to be the best friend possible! Thank You for helping me to do that!
