Do What It Says
James 1:22
“Do not merely listen to the Word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.”
Listening is only beneficial if it produces action. It’s great to read the Bible, and to listen to sermons, but is it enough? Faith without works is dead. Please, keep reading and keep hearing God’s words, but don’t deceive yourselves into thinking that’s enough. Don’t say, “I’ve read my Bible, so my Christian duties are fulfilled for the day.” A relationship with God isn’t about a list of chores we have to check off our list. It’s about being obedient to God’s commands, because we have so much love for Him! It’s about listening to His voice, because we understand how much He loves and cares for us.
A true relationship with God requires action! Sometimes it requires us to get out of our comfort zones. Sometimes it requires us to talk to people we usually wouldn’t talk to. Sometimes it requires us to put in some hard work. But if you are waiting to experience a genuine moment with God’s presence, try going where He is. Psalm 34:18 - “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”
So this week, take some time to be with the broken-hearted and the crushed in spirit. Seek out the hopeless and the needy, and bring God’s hope and provision. Be the hands and feet of Christ. Spread the light and the love of God wherever you go. Read your Bible, and then do what it says. When you do, I promise you will experience a true moment with God! There’s nothing better in this life than a true, genuine experience with the God of Miracles! That’s my God!!!!
