Return To Me!
Do we even understand the depths of God’s love?
It’s pretty common to hear the words, “God loves you” and it’s easy to just glance over that and move on. Do we even understand the kind of love God has for us?
Imagine this... When you were born, you were cast aside and despised and thrown into a field to fend for yourself. No one loved you. Then, a loving man, comes along and picks you up and takes you as His own child. He feeds you, He provided for you, He comforts you, He gives you a home and He loves you! When no one would love you, and when no one wanted you, He saw you and HE WANTED YOU! He saw a precious child worthy of being loved! He promised to be your father and provider forever! No matter what! He saved you!
When you get older, you start to think you don’t need Him anymore. You start to think you know better, and you turn away from the loving man. You forget the love you were shown by Him. You leave His home and chase after your own desires. You seek the comfort of others food, of others houses, and of others love. You say to the man, “I don’t need You!”
Still, the loving man says, “my beloved child, come home. I miss you.” He is ready and willing to accept you home. He wants once again to hold you and be your comfort and joy. He wants to once again show you love and provision when no one else will. Despite your selfishness and betrayal, HE LOVES YOU AND WANTS YOU! (Story in Ezekiel 16)
That’s what God does for us. He loved us when no one else would, and then gave us a home and a place to belong and blessing after blessing. Then, we turned our backs on Him. We chose to show our love to strangers and our own desires, and we forgot Him and His saving love. Still God cries out, “Return to Me, my beloved!” He still wants us and still loves us. So today, return to your first love! Don’t forget the Love He has for you. Turn away from your own desires and those things you have been putting before God, and fall into the arms of your first love! His loving arms will always hold you. Hold tight to Him and do your best to love Him with all your heart! Don’t forget what He’s done and who He is. And my God will pour His perfect and never ending love all over your life, and you will KNOW that you are loved! That’s my God!!!!
