Disappointments

Let me tell you something, 2020 was not my year. Every time I looked forward to something, BOOM, cancelled. Graduating? BOOM, cancelled. Yakima, BOOM, cancelled. Sports? Forget it, BOOM, cancelled. The fair being cancelled, now that one did me in. The list can sadly go on for most of it. Every time something got cancelled, I got disappointed. Disappointment is an emotion that is okay to feel. Though, how you react to that emotion affects how your life will be.

You can either dwell in those thoughts which will turn your aspect of life to negative or you can turn to God during that time of your life. This time in most of our lives reminds me of Job. That man went THROUGH it. For a period of his life, he lost EVERYTHING. He could have turned against God and said “forget this” and dealt with his life in his own way to cope. Though, he didn’t. In Job 1:20-22 “At this, Job got up and tore his robe and shaved his head. Then he fell to the ground in worship and said: “Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked I will depart. The LORD gave and the LORD has taken away; may the name of the LORD be praised.” In all this, Job did not sin by charging God with wrongdoing.”

Job knew that God was putting him through it, yet still he said he will trust Him. How amazing is it that Job still fell to the ground and worshipped God?! We could all use a little bit of that in our lives. Through these times, we need to lean on God and trust that this plan He has is good. God’s timing and plan for us is better than we could ever imagine for our own life. You just need to trust the process.
