DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!
Ezekiel 33:31-33
“My people come to you, as they usually do, and sit before you to hear your words, but they do not put them into practice. Their mouths speak of love, but their hearts are greedy for unjust gain. Indeed, to them you are nothing more than one who sings love songs with a beautiful voice and plays an instrument well, for they hear your words but do not put them into practice.”
It’s awesome to read God’s Word, and it’s so important to listen to Godly people preaching God’s message. But it’s totally useless unless you put those teachings into practice. Useless unless it’s followed by action. “Faith without works is dead.”
We’ve all probably heard tons and tons of sermons and read many, many devotionals in our lives. But how often after we hear those sermons and read those devotions are we overwhelmed with a desire to ACT? In Ezekiel’s time, the people were happy to sit and listen, but then they continued in their sin. They were convinced that simply hearing the message was enough to make them righteous and holy. It did them as much good as it does to listen to beautiful music. Puts you in a good mood, but doesn’t really change anything. Instead DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT! “Don’t merely listen to the Word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says!”
It’s a brand new week. This very well might be a life changing week for you. The number 1 thing you can do to make this week great, is to listen and obey! God loves to bless His obedient children. So please keep listening and keep reading, but then... do something with what you’ve learned. This week, let’s get out of our comfort zones and practice what we’ve been learning. Let’s put action to our faith! Even if it’s something that scares us or makes us uncomfortable, let’s do it! Let’s obey, even when it’s hard, and just wait to see how our Almighty God uses us for His glory! God will always be with us! That’s my God!!!!
