Life Is One Long Vapor (at times)
Every day on earth, you are yet one day closer to eternity, for me as well. In His Word, God encourages us to keep our focus on the eternal things of life and not the temporal, for in comparison to eternity, life on this earth is “but a vapor.”
With the average life expectancy worldwide now being 70 years of age, compared to an eternity of living beyond this life, this life on earth is indeed but a breath, a vapor. But at times, as we are forced to live out each moment of this vapor, time can seem to drag on forever. Especially when the vapor of life is in pain, grief, sorrow or disappointment. It is during those times that our time here on earth seems like forever!
There is no way we can possibly understand the reality of this verse until we actually begin living life beyond this world. It is then we will understand what we did on this earth was truly the only shot we would get at making a Kingdom Impact for eternity. Once you die, it’s over. Your vapor is complete, and eternity will begin. Therefore, everything you do on this earth, put your focus on God and advancing His Kingdom. Even amid your pain, put your focus on God and not upon yourself.
My parents always tell me, “Son, this too will pass.” Wherever you are in life, it will pass. Don’t miss out on your Kingdom Impact in the midst of your vapor. And as you do…
You watch… You wait… You’ll see!
