Valentine's Day Blues

Yesterday, February 14th, the citizens of the United States celebrated what is called “Valentine’s Day.” A day set aside to celebrate those you love in special ways. Having been married 42 years, my Bride and I always enjoyed this day as we would go on a “date” and exchange gifts of love with each other.

Now that she’s in heaven, this celebration has taken a different turn in my life. It is yet another reminder that she’s not here, and never will be again. We will never be able to celebrate another Valentine’s Day together. Yes, I have the sure and certain hope that we will see each other again, Praise God! But not today, and probably not tomorrow.

The one thing I am resolutely sure of however, is the absolute fact that God is with me right now, and will be with me tonight, tomorrow, the next day and every night and day after that! Thus, I keep my focus on Him. I praise God for my children, grands, family and friends. I praise God for my Church family. But what I thank God for the most, when I’m feeling “alone” is that HE is with me and will never leave me!

If you’re feeling alone in life, lean into God. And if your life is filled with relationships that occupy your time, make sure you don’t leave God out of the equation. He must be first place in all aspects, above everyone.

And when this happens…

You watch… You wait… You’ll see!
